Kerr is a PhD student in Ferry Melchels' research group. This group focuses on the development of biomaterials and their use/application in biomedical devices. Prior to starting his PhD at Heriot-Watt, Kerr gained his Honors degree in Pharmacology, and his Masters degree in Advanced Pharmaceutical Manufacturing from the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow. Since being first introduced to advanced drug delivery systems in his undergraduate degree, this area of research had always interested him. He worked on developing a 3D-printable drug-eluting bioresorbable polymeric cardiac stent during is MSc project, which lead him to his current PhD subject area.
In his spare time, he can generally be found doing something to do with cars, or spending time with friends/family.
