Ieva is a PhD student in a team of Dr Maiwenn Kersaudy-Kerhoas. The research of the group is mainly focused on the development of microfluidic devises and their application in clinical facilities for different conditions. Previously, Ieva graduated in Molecular Biology from Vilnius University (Lithuania), which provided her with theoretical and practical laboratory skills. To further her knowledge she chose an MSc program in Medical Molecular Genetics at the University of Aberdeen, which now allows her to demonstrate a high level of expertise in the Human genome and genetic disorders, and useful laboratory related skills of planning experiments. Working as Medical Lab Technologist at Immunology and Biomarkers department (Q2 Solutions, a Quintiles Quest joint venture) gave her an overall understanding of the good clinical practice working in laboratory environment. It also introduced her to clinical studies and their management, technical validation of systems and experiment results, and document (SOP) writing. Beyond university Ieva's interests cover travelling, hiking, and arts.
